Marojoka Hockey Club

Indoor Competitive Travel Hockey- TRY-OUTS FOR 2022-2023 have concluded.

Please email the club to be added to our contact list for future Hockey opportunities.

Playing indoor competitive travel Hockey for Marojoka is a significant time commitment, but in the end it is a true growth experience for our Hockey player. Indoor Field Hockey is played on smooth floor courts, and is a much faster game than outdoors. Players develop stick skills and good “Hockey habits” that help them improve their indoor and outdoor Hockey, as well as develop teamwork and leadership skills.

Travel hockey requires a try-out. Coaches will evaluate your skills to start to put together teams of players that are at a similar growth level. The first few weeks of practice, coaches will continue to evaluate skills and solidify the teams. Teams will be announced within the first few weeks of practices.

Travel players need to attend practices with their team twice a week in the evenings starting after the outdoor season ends (usually mid to late October) through until the end of February. Practices are usually around 1 ½ hours each durings evenings at Skateaway Roller Rink in Whitehall, PA. Players will need a stick (indoor sticks are the best, although outdoor ones can be used), shin guards, mouth guard, and a Marojoka pinnie for practice. Also, corner masks and foam fingered field player gloves are needed for safety (see below in “Uniform Package”).

Goalies attend practice with their team and need their full goalie gear. Goalies will receive dedicated goalie training time to further their specific skills.

Tournaments usually start in December and are on either Saturdays and/or Sundays, with an occasional holiday weekend event. Tournament locations are usually within 2 hours of Skateaway. Players need to purchase a uniform set that they wear for the tournaments. Goalies will need to purchase a pair of goalie jerseys.

The cost of training and tournaments for the 2021-2022 season will include:
18 weeks of practices (usually 2 evenings per week, except for holidays)
6 tournaments for U16/U19 and 4 tournaments for U10/U12/U14
Player Hockey notebooks
Team video study sessions on-line

Players will need to purchase a uniform package, including the two shirts (light and dark), skort, shin guard covers, and pinnie. Goalies will need to purchase goalie jerseys. Players will also need to purchase a safety package consisting of a corner mask and special indoor gloves.

Marojoka also offers their travel players opportunities to play in extra outdoor hockey tournaments throughout the year, particularly in the spring/summer. These tournaments are paid separately from the season fee. Two exciting opportunities are playing in the Disney Field Hockey Showcase and the Shooting Stars Easter Tournament in Delaware.
